I want to know if I should get t 3 unit bridge to replace a missing tooth or an implant.?

I have tooth no.5 that needs to be pulled. It is the tooth behind my eye tooth. I want to get a 3 unit bridge to replace it because I do not want to go through the tramua of 2-3 implant surgerys. I am scared that if I do the bridge I am greatley putting my other 2 healthy teeth at risk. What should I do? This implant proceedure I was told is no joke.

I would definitely go for the 3 tooth bridge. I got a 3 tooth unit on my lower teeth, ( first molar after what I would say was the equivalent of the eye tooth, but obviously on the bottom) and then going back towards the last molar at back of mouth.

It has lasted me 19 years so far, going through all the stress of toffees, brazil nuts, you name it, I've eaten it ! ........... and it's still holding strong!

It's far less traumatic and far less costly. My two support teeth on either side off the bridge have not been compromised either I might add.

Hope this helps you to decide. Good Luck!

Reply:If you are a candidate for implant, it is certainly a superior option compared to a bridge, it has higher success rate, doesn't damage your remaining healthy teeth, and it's easier to floss and brush around it, and also you will not put extra load on the bridged teeth.

I will choose implants over a bridge almost all the time, except when I feel that the implant has a high failure rate due to bone resorption or some complexity from cosmetic point of view, you dentist would be the best one to discuss these factors with.

Good Luck
