my brother had his left big incisor extracted today because he ran into a wall. i am posting this on behalf of him. How long will he have to go without the tooth, since he looks pretty creepy without the tooth, and how long will it take to do a tooth implant?

He can have a flipper partial made and have a tooth in there by the end of the week or the first of next. Call your doctor right away for an emergency apt. This will hold him while the socket heals and also while he heals from the implant surgery. I usually like the socket to heal for 4-6 months before placing an implant and then like it to heal another 6 months before placing a crown so that's the time frame you are looking at before he's rid of the partial and has a crown on an implant. He'l look OK with the flipper but he won't be able to eat with it very well.
