Am planning to get dental work done in Bangkok. So many dentists to choose from??

Any information re: standard, cost, hygiene, professionalism - good or bad experiences appreciated. I am having a tooth implant, one daughter is having impacted wisdom teeth out and other daughter, teeth whitening. I'm not interested in the package deal with accom. etc, just a recommended quality, reasonably priced dental practice with high standards. I am going back home to Aust. via Thailand - and like many australians decided to get dental work done in Thailand, as well as have a holiday. The standard is high but cheaper than Aust. and a popular destination for dental/cosmetic work, but my problem is there are so many choices and I was hoping for feedback from people who have had dental work done in Thailand.

The standard of dentistry in Thailand is EXTREMELY POOR.

Costs of providing high standard dentistry is the same around the world. Only material costs can differ. For instance a Swedish manufactured Titanium implant costs $700 in materials whether you buy it in Australia, or China. China however make dental implants that they say are titanium, but are copper, or something very cheap and nasty. If you get an implant put in China, you only find that it destroys your jaw bone 2 years after the event, and there is no way you can go back and complain. Thailand is the same. It is why they offer cheaper dental treatment... it IS cheaper, in more ways than you have obviously considered.

I do not advise you to go to anyone outside of your local area where you live. Having good dental care is one thing, and obviously trying to get it as cheap as possible is important for the family budget, but there are long term costs to consider, and these are OBVIOUSLY not being factored into your consideration. For instance what if something goes wrong?... What is the worse thing that can happen? Have you consdeired that there is always a real chance of death, infection, maiming, or even worse, that the corrective care you go through can be far more expensive, and can only be conducted back home where you live.

Australia has the highest standard fo dentistry in the world, way up there with some Northern European Countries, and with North America. You should have the dentistry at home.

Most people in Thailand who can afford the best, go to Singapore, which is even more expensive than Australian Dentistry. Thailand is not that good. You are fooling yourself into thinking you are getting a superior service, and at dirt cheap prices.

You get what you pay for, and that's why Australia is cheaper in the long term, but more expensive in the short term. To find out more on the temporal, biological, and financial costs of dentistry, go to http://www.dentalimplantsaustralia.com/

Don't go to Thailand to get your dentistry done!
