Retainer (orthodontic device)?
I'm young and I'm getting the exact same thing done as you are! We're actually in the exact same position as I am about to have my braces taken off as well (I've had them for over 4 years, it's about time!). Ask your orthodontist about what kind of retainers he has. They come in either wire ones with the color under the roof of your mouth or a clear retainer. The clear retainers are clear coverings that look a lot like teeth whitening trays, but they add a false tooth in them - they look completely natural! My cousin is missing two teeth in her mouth and she's also going to be getting this surgery when she's older and she has a clear retainer with two filled spots for her teeth. I used to have a teacher who is missing a tooth as well and she got the wire retainer with the false tooth in it and it looked awful - you could totally tell it was fake. The best bet would be to get the clear ones - they look completely natural! However, you must wear your retainer everyday! Your orthodontist has measured the exact space for your implant and if you don't wear your retainer it will move them out of shape and mess up the plan. Best of luck!
Reply:Talk with your orthodontist. I have heard that it can be done but have not seen it
Reply:yes it is possible and quite common. it is important though to wear it consistently to keep the right amount of space for your future implant.
