Madhu, a tooth implant is a small metallic object that is placed in the jaw-bone to replace a missing tooth, something similar to the plates/rods which are used to repair a fractured leg/arm . This beauty of an invention is the next best thing to having a natural tooth, as it takes support from the jaw, rather than the neighbouring teeth or the gums.


Implants have been around for more than 30-40 yrs, but their presence has come up in a big way in India only since the last 5-10yrs. More than WHERE u can get the best implants, it is more important that WHO is placing it. This is a specialized aspect of dentistry, and the operating doctor must be well-versed with his knowledge and procedure. Apart from this, he must have a sound judgement and good experience in this line.
