I have missing teeth.. if the teeth around it has already shifted.. do I need braces first?

Or can i still just get partials, bridge, implant to stop it from shifting more. I'm wondering if it is mandatory to first get it straightend before the missting teeth can be replaced?

The answer really depends on to what degree the teeth have shifted and how many teeth are missing. Does your bite cause you discomfort? Have opposing teeth dropped into the space of the missing teeth? Will you be happy with the appearance and function of your teeth if you just replace the missing ones with partial dentures or bridges?

If you have questions about any of these issues, you may need to have orthodontic treatment prior to replacing missing teeth. Often, some of the spaces can be closed during the braces requiring less false teeth afterwards. The cost of the braces actually saves you in treatment afterwards.

We have many patients in our office who undergo full mouth reconstruction by having orthodontic treatment followed by bridges or implants. By uprighting teeth, closing gaps, correcting the bite and aligning the arches, the result is more stable and provides a nicer appearance.
