Endodontic Surgery?

i've got to have this done on the 28th, i'm on tablets now to clear all my system out (so can't drink this christmas) :(

will i be ok for a good drink new years though? need at least one good party.

i'm even concedering just bottling this surgery and just asking for tooth extraction/implant instead

Endodontic Surgery?
You shouldn't drink alcohol whilst your on the tablets, firstly the alcohol will prevent the body properly absorbing the medication and secondly the Metronidazole will make you really ill so until your off them please avoid drinking!

As far as the endo is concerned once your numb you won't feel any pain but it may be a bit tender afterwards so take a painkiller before the local wears off, your dentist obviously thinks you have a good prognosis with this tooth otherwise he wouldn't wanna go in and re treat it so don't go down the extraction route unless you really have to! The original root treatment would've weakened the tooth and re treatments are just as invasive so there is a chance it will weaken any more but again if the dentist saw this as being a problem he wouldn't attempt it so please trust his judgement in the long run your better to keep this tooth even if it is for 20 years!
Reply:I have had several root canals and you will be just fine. I'm not sure what this medicine you are on prior to the surgery, perhaps your tooth has become infected.

Keeping your teeth is SO important! You don't want to be old and have to get dentures if you can help it.

I took Tylenol for my discomfort...not much and did fine.

I didn't miss a beat in my routine....and I'm 60!!
Reply:I do not know what the best treatment is for you, but seems from what I have been reading on here root canals, wisdom teeth,

are a pain in the butt for life. My son had 3 root canals done only to fall apart. No dental treatment is guarantee for life unless you get a written guarantee (that you will not get). I already had 3 gold pins placed to support a filling it lasted a couple years and then had to be extracted. I know

people who have dentures including my husband and never had a problem with them after necessary adjustments were made and he is 63 wearing them since he was 16. My neighbor just got his and likes them... eats nuts, bites into apples. He said they were better than his natural.
Reply:it will be just fine, you will be under local anesthesia, so need to worry, just relax,,ok?
