I need to replace my front top tooth! crap =/?

my doctor told me i have two options.

1. if i choose to get an implant they only need to take out 1 tooth BUT the implant will be a bit longer than the rest of my teeth and he said that at the top tooth and near the gums it may be look black

2. i take out 4 or 5 of my front top teeth and replace it all with fake ones but they will have to take out 3 of my good teeth which seems like a waste BUT it would look better and look more normal

I dont know what to do.. im very self conscious of how it will look since it is right in the front and im paying for all of this in cash! =(

I need to replace my front top tooth! crap =/?
Get a second opinion if you have to.

Is the tooth missing totally? Then you will need an implant. Find a dentist that does these, I've seen implants that you could not tell from the original teeth.

If the tooth is broken, you can have it crowned, this is usually cheaper.

Do avoid pulling good teeth! A plate of fake teeth is never a good alternative, they have so many fitting problems.

PLEASE get a second opinion.

Good luck!
Reply:go to another dentist. No reason why your implant should be bigger than the other teeth or black on top...and no good reason to remove a whole bunch of perfectly good teeth either.
Reply:Has he heard of crowns? I am not sure I would let anyone take out all of my front teeth...seems a little radical to me!

I do wish you luck and I hope you love the results no matter what you decide to do.
Reply:First off, Go find another dentist. I know for a fact that you can have a partial put in or if there is still a partial tooth you can have it capped. I've had both done at one time or another.
Reply:If you have to have the tooth removed I would have the implant done. I would not take out healthy teeth just to have a partical denture put in. They are not very functional and they are hard to eat with. I have been a dental assistant for 6 years and I have done alot of implants and not one of them have made the gum look darker than they should. I would get a second opinion. Have the implant done by someone that really knows what they are talking about. You will be alot happier having the implant done.
Reply:Get an implant. There's no reason that the implant will be longer than the other teeth and with a bridge you can get the same thing of the gums looking black.

An implant placed and restored correctly will look completely natural. The success rates and longivity greatly surpass bridges.

A six unit bridge will probably cost similar to an implant but it will be harder to clean, you will have to lose some of your good and natural teeth, plus ten years down the road you might have to get it replaced. So, my advice, hands down get in implant.
Reply:go to another dentist. an implant is the best, most expensive option. there is no reason to pay all that money for something that looks bad
