I have a prob.i have dental insur. But it wont be effective till next yr.i need alot done what are my options?
Even with the dental insurance they will usually only pay 20 - 30 % on problems. They will pay 100% on cleaning and usualy 70% on issues that were found during cleaning. Issues that are there before the cleaning they will not pay very much on.
Reply:Okay, first you need to realize that most dental insurances have a $1,000 or $1,500 limit which means the insurane won't pay more than that in a year. So if your insurance pays 50% on dental work you can only get $2,000-$3,000 of work done in a year. You pay 50% and the insurance pays 50% after that you have to wait for the next calender year for the insurance to pay another $1,000 or $1,500. So the rest will be out of pocket anyway. Start getting some of that work done. Second, check your insurance. Not all dental ins. pay for implants. Just a few tips. I work in a dental office.
Reply:Hey Dustin, don't worry I had to have a lot of work done also.
1. First thing you should do is prioritize your dental work needs. For instance, it sounds like the extra teeth don't need to be fixed right away. Get those removed next April.
2. You should be able to have at least some of your work done at a dental school. (You may have to get a root canal at one school and an implant at another) If the school you tried said no try another school. Check neighboring states because you may save enough to make a road trip worth while.
3. Don't pay full price at the dental school. For around $100 you can buy a discount dental plan (www.dentalplans.com). This is not the same as dental insurance, but offers you discounts on certain procedures. Find a plan that works for you. Most dental schools accept these plans.
Reply:I know dental work can certainly add up. I don't have dental insurance but have an affordable discount dental plan, at least it can provide you with great savings as you start your dental work.... http://www.wehavebenefits.com
Reply:If you would like to take care of your teeth and gums immediately at huge savings, you may. You can sign up today and schedule an appointment tomorrow.
When your dental insurance kicks in, you can decide which one is better for you, and keep the plan that is most useful to you. Fair enough?
