Does anyone know what it's like to get a tooth implant?? At my young age of 16 I have to get one in a couple years (yeah, yeah, I know it's a long ways away) and I'm really freaked out about the whole situation...I tend to stress myself out a lot if you haven't noticed :D
Dental Work...?
The best implant is called an osteointegrated implant which were developed in Sweden and have been tested and in use for over 30 years.
Technique:
The gum tissue is laid back to reveal the bone beneath.
Then an appropriately sized hole is drilled in the bone and the implant placed into the bone and a healing cap is placed over it and the gum laid back into place and the area is allowed to heal.
Later, after the implant has "osteointegrated" (attached itself to the bone) the healing cap is removed (unscrewer) and the implant superstructure is place.
They look great and they work very well as evidenced by so many years of success.
Don't stress over the surgery part, it is all done under local anaesthetic and does not hurt at all. There is some healing pain afterward but no worse than getting a tooth taken out.
Go for it when the time is right, you will not regret it.
